Self-Care --Caring for Beautiful You!

Be good to magnificent you! Please acknowledge yourselves for all that you’ve accomplished through this challenging time. You haven’t given up, you’ve risen to the occasion and have overcome! Take time for self-care –you are worth it!!! There are many self-care activities that you can do for yourself. It’s just a matter of finding the one that is right for you.

They don’t have to be complicated, take a lot of time, and certainly don’t have to cost a thing. You could take a walk, swim, surf, hike, meditate, do some yoga or tai chi routines, free write, practice calm breathing, create art, play music, garden, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery –you name it, there are a myriad of things you could do! The main thing is that it’s something that you like to do and schedule that time in on a regular basis –yes, actually schedule that time in. We do it for our other happenings like assignments, clinicals, work, and meetings, and I can think of no other time better spent than investing in your own health and wellbeing.

Start with just 10-15 minutes a day (or whatever feels comfortable) and see what your body, mind, and spirit have in mind. I’ll leave you with a few very important free resources (there are many others and I’d be delighted to share with you if you would like –just let me know if so):

  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255

  • Trevor Lifeline (LGBTQ Youth): 1-866-488-7386

  • SAMHSA Disaster Distress Helpline 1-800-985-5990 or Text TalkWithUs to 6674

I’m wishing you all the very best health and wellness!

Take goood care & be well,

Dr. B-)
